Tennessee jobless rate up slightly
Tennessee's unemployment rate for May was 4.7 percent, up from the April rate of 4.4 percent, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development said Thursday.
Month-to-month employment increases were recorded in the leisure/hospitality sector, up 4,600 jobs; the trade, transportation and utilities sector, up 2,400 jobs, and the construction sector, up 1,700 jobs.
Month-to-month employment decreases took place in professional, scientific and technical services, down 2,500 jobs. State government educational services were down 2,000, and manufacturing was down 1,700 jobs.
