Unemployment rate dips
Payrolls jump by 128,000 in August.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Hiring perked up in August as employers added 128,000 jobs, pulling down the unemployment rate to 4.7%, evidence of a cooler — but still solid — pace of economic growth.
The latest snapshot, released by the Labor Department on Friday, was a bit brighter than expected and should ease fears that economic growth is fizzling out.
